Evangelism - Witness Leader: Joy Jackson A United Methodist is someone who has
- believed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and pledged allegiance to His Kingdom,
- professed the Christian faith as contained in the Old and New Testaments,
- promised to live a Christian life and remain a faithful member of the Church,
- pledged to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and support her with presence, prayer, gift, and service.
Four simple vows can lead to a life of service and of joy sustained by the courage and wisdom God grants to those who seek to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
United Methodists share a common heritage with other Christians
- conviction that God has mercy and love for all people
- belief in a triune God: father, Son and Holy Spirit
- faith in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In these and many other ways Methodism affirms, within "the communion of saints," a oneness in Christ Jesus.
United Methodists guide their belief on quadrilateral base:
- Scripture
- Tradition
- Experience
- Reason
